WBC is an EV battery platform offering professional battery testing, a verified marketplace for buying and selling electric vehicle batteries, and Periscope battery testing tools.

WBC was incorporated on October 6, 2025 as a spin-off of its affiliate Smartville Inc.; the two companies are under common ownership and control.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, username, and password when you create an account
  • Business information: Business name and business type
  • Contact information: Mailing address, phone number, city, state, postal code, and country
  • Payment information: Payment and payout details processed through Stripe (we do not store your credit card numbers - see Section 4)
  • Marketplace listings: Battery descriptions, pricing, images, location, and condition details
  • Communications: Messages, feedback, and any information you provide when you contact us or submit a support request
  • Battery test data: Test results, diagnostic data, and device location submitted through our Periscope testing devices or mobile app

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and interaction data
  • Authentication data: Login timestamps and session information
  • Bot protection data: Google reCAPTCHA verification tokens

4. How We Share Your Information

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate our Services:

  • Stripe - payment processing, seller payouts, and tax calculation
  • Google - reCAPTCHA (bot protection) and Maps API (address verification)
  • PostHog - product analytics to improve our Services
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) - cloud hosting, data storage, and email delivery
  • Sentry - application error monitoring, crash reporting, and performance diagnostics

These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect your data.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

Business Transfers

If WBC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

In October 2025, user accounts and associated data were transferred from Smartville Inc. to WBC as part of an intra-group reorganization under common ownership and control. The privacy commitments in effect at the time of original collection continue to apply.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication, security, and to store your preferences (such as cart contents). We use Google reCAPTCHA for bot protection, which may set its own cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and comply with our legal obligations:

  • Account data is retained for the life of your account plus a reasonable period after closure
  • Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years
  • Battery test data and reports are retained for your ongoing access
  • Support inquiries are retained for the resolution period

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, and misuse.

8. Your Privacy Rights

All Users

You may access, update, and correct your personal information through your account settings. To request deletion of your account, see our Delete Account page.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to Know: You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

We do not sell your personal information. The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 2 of this policy.

To exercise your rights, email us at support@wholebatterycatalog.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days. If we need additional time, we will notify you and may take up to 90 days total.

Identity Verification: To protect your privacy, we will verify your identity before processing your request. We will send a verification link to the email address associated with your account. If you no longer have access to your account email, we may ask you to provide a government-issued photo ID as an alternative. Any identification documents submitted for verification will be deleted within 30 days. If we cannot verify your identity, we may deny the request.

Authorized Agents: You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. The authorized agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may require you to verify your identity directly with us before processing the request.

Canadian Residents (PIPEDA)

If you are a Canadian resident, you have the following rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act:

  • Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct: You may request that we correct any inaccuracies in your personal information.
  • Withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information.
  • File a complaint: You may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

To exercise your rights, email us at support@wholebatterycatalog.com. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and service providers are located.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information.

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on our website.
